The HOA Depends On Volunteers
A reminder to our fellow neighbors and property owners that everything Oak Ridge Village community realizes is due solely to volunteer efforts. Without all of us volunteering our time, talents and energies, very little would get done. Please, if you have not been able to volunteer in the past or you have not the inclination to volunteer, rethink your position. Our community will continue to flourish provided it continues to have an effective board of directors and efficient committees. All of us are very busy but at some point we will need your service.

GraffitiReporting Graffiti
is just an app away

Reporting graffiti in San Antonio just got a touch easier. The City's Graffiti Abatement Program has teamed up with App-Order.com to create "mySanAntonioTX" smart phone application that will allow residents with Android phones to send real time graffiti information and photos to the department.

Android users can download the "mySanAntonioTX" application for free from the Android Market. Likewise, iPhone users can download the free application from the App Store. Once installed, users simply open the application and follow the prompts to take a picture of the graffiti and then submit the information. Using a built-in global positioning system the application will attach a location to the picture and send the information to the Graffiti Abatement Program. The electronic submissions will then be routed to the appropriate City staff or outside agency. Residents can also choose to receive updates on the status of their request.

"This program will give many residents a new and more efficient way to inform the City about graffiti issues," said David D. Garza, director, Code Enforcement Services Department. "By making the complaint identification process more convenient, we will be able to rid our neighborhoods of the blight even faster."

The "mySanAntonioTX" application was created at no cost to the City. App-Order.com develops Smartphone apps with web interfaces for government and private industry customers throughout the United States.

SPEED HUMPS

Speed bumps or humps on Tavern Oaks has been brought up as a solution to speeding at almost every Annual Meeting since October 5, 1999.  At each meeting it is explained that our community’s streets are public right of ways and are owned by the City of San Antonio (COSA) and not the Association.  In order to obtain speed humps the City requires several steps to be taken by residents and of course there is funding issues to be dealt with.
The steps REQUIRE ACTION BY RESIDENTS THEMSELVES and cannot be accomplished solely by your HOA Leaders.  If you strongly want speed humps on your street, action on your part is required.  Below are the steps necessary to obtain speed humps and the check marks indicate which have been completed.

þ

Complete COSA Investigation Form

þ

Gain neighborhood support by obtaining 10 signatures per street segment - Coordinated by the Safety Committee

þ

Submit Request Form to COSA

o

COSA determines eligibility; concerned residents should voice their desire for speed humps to their elected city officials

o

Availability of City Funding - Association can accelerate by paying 100%

o

Signed Petition; for each street a hump is planned must have 2/3% signed agreement of residents on that street - Volunteers will be needed on the Safety Committee to canvas the street to obtain the required signatures

o

Installation - Location determined by COSA Public Works

Drainage Ditch Shredding

There are numerous city drainage easements in the ORV subdivision and the city public works crews may not shred these ditches on a frequency desired by most homeowners.  Shredding by the HOA is performed when requested (no frequency established).  If you feel there is an area of concern please contact our Community Association Manager, Ted Brocker, to request additional services of these drainage areas.
Please remember that additional services does affect our budget causing shortfalls that will have to be addressed with reducing services elsewhere.

2010 C.O.P. (Cellular On Patrol) Schedule
